The opinion of the court was delivered by This is an appeal by the State pursuant to K.S.A. 22-3602 upon a question reserved. Defendant Mitchell A. Moffett pled guilty to a speeding charge and pled not guilty to a charge of driving while his license was suspended (K.S.A. 1985 Supp. 8-262). At the close of the trial on the suspended license charge, the trial court dismissed the charge on the ground defendant had not been properly notified of the suspension of his driver's license. It is unclear from the record whether the ruling was based upon defendant's failure to receive the notice or the sending of the notice to an improper address. The question reserved seeks to resolve an ongoing problem concerning to what address a notice of suspension needs to be sent where the records of the Division of Vehicles contain multiple addresses for a license holder. Defendant was stopped for speeding on February 16, 1986. A computer check revealed that his driver's license had been suspended on January 2, 1986. Following the license suspension, [240 Kan. 407]
